Most of those things come from my own personal experiences and as such are mostly about issues that concern women and children. Past work has looked at how motherhood has been represented in painting, the commodification of children through International adoption, and the cyclic nature of the care system. I am currently working on a series of drawings and paintings that represent how “women of a certain age” are perceived in society and what has changed for them post 50.

The use of textiles has always played a prominent part in my work, often in the form of altered clothes, as I feel this reflects the domestic, but I am continually expanding my technical abilities to have the appropriate arsenal of skills at my disposal.

Education

2017-2018 Warwickshire College Foundation in Art Therapy

2011-2013 Coventry University MA in Contemporary Arts Practice (Distinction)

2002-2003 University of Warwick Qualified Teacher Status

2001 City and Guilds 7307 Teaching Cert. in Adult Education

1997-2001 Coventry University BA (Hons) Fine Art (2:1)

1996-1997 Coventry University Foundation in Art and Design
(Distinction)

Exhibitions

2018 “Enshrine”, Crypt Gallery, St. Pancras Church,
London

2017 Rugby Open, Rugby Art Gallery and
Museum

2016 “Artist Toys”, Lite-haus Gallery and
Projektraum, Berlin

2016 Coventry Open, Herbert Art Gallery and
Museum

2016 “Homunculus”, Asylum Gallery, London

2014 Coventry Open, Herbert Art Gallery and
Museum

Biography When people meet me now they find it hard to believe that I used to be a shy child and teenager that lacked confidence, but it has taken the passing of time, many false starts and all the experience that comes with that, to bring me to a time and place where I have […]
